Got to Ballaugh to find more beach exposed here and dead onshore winds. I'd never been here before so had a good look around before rigging and then a windusrfer I had met on the IOM on previous visits (Neil Clegg) arrived which was good as it meant I had someone to go out with at this new spot.
We both rigged 5.7m sails and 90(ish) litre boards. Neil got out first as I had to re-rig my sail as my mast wasn't properly put together. Neil got trashed several times by the viscous shorebreak before giving up.... That didn't look too promising! I gave it a go anyway and managed to get straight out the back on my first attempt and so spent a while blasting back and forth a little overpowered in the choppy, hectic conditions. After a while I cam back in to find Neil still getting trashed in the shorebreak. We had a rest for a while waiting for the tide to drop off a bit, but the shorebreak didn't ease and on our next attempt we both got washed around in the shorebreak for a while before calling it a day here and heading off to the other side of the island.
